What is it? If you haven’t done the Dawdle or Dash before; it is a 3 mile (5K) fell race or walk from the Stiperstones Inn to the famous Devil’s Chair atop the Stiperstones and back.
The route is up a lane whose surface becomes rough and then very stoney, up a steep slippy field and then along the very rocky ridge. Marshals at the summit will check your tally and offer you a warming tipple if you can spare the time, The descent is fast and calls for strong nerves if you want a fast time. The record is just over 20 minutes but anyone completing inside the hour is a winner. There are trophies and prizes in many age categories.
Warm soup and sandwiches are available to all at the finish. Prize giving is usually at 1.00pm. All proceed will be shared between the Severn Hospice and the Lingen Davies Centre.
Remember come well prepared, no casual shoes or wellies and enough clothes to keep you warm at an altitude of 1500 feet. You take part entirely at your own risk and take responsibility for your children; dogs are welcome but must be on a tight lead.
Parking is always an issue, please car share if you can and follow the marshal’s instructions.
